Preparing Homes for Summer Fire Risks with LP® FlameBlock® Fire-Rated Sheathing and LP BurnGuard™ FRT OSB

Summertime brings warmer temperatures, outdoor activities, and more time spent enjoying the spaces around our homes. However, the season can also bring increased fire risks due to dry conditions, outdoor cooking, fire pits and other heat sources. Building materials designed with fire resistance in mind can play an important role in helping improve a home’s resilience.

At LP, we develop products that help builders and homeowners create durable structures. Two product solutions - LP® FlameBlock® Fire-Rated Sheathing and LP BurnGuard™ FRT OSB – are designed to provide added protection where fire performance matters.

Understanding Summer Fire Risks

Summer fire hazards can come from many different sources, including:

  • Outdoor grills

  • Cooking equipment

  • Fire pits

  • Lightning strikes

  • Dry vegetation

  • Increase wildfire risk in certain regions

  • Construction or maintenance activities involving heat

Fire prevention practices are essential, but the materials used to build your structure or home can also impact how it may perform when exposed to fire.
